Atlantic City Cinefest is a 501c3 non-profit film festival built around the screenings of new films, features, shorts and documentaries, cinema-related panels and retrospectives honoring filmmakers and actors. Founded in 2008 as Downbeach Film Festival - our parent corporation - our mission is to present a cultural experience to celebrate the art form of moviemaking for residents of and visitors to the Atlantic City area.
The festival relies on support from various elements of the Atlantic City community including casino resorts who donate cash and hotel rooms, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, which donates printing and publicity, Stockton University, which provided venues, and the Atlantic City Film Commission.
Our event also provides a forum for novice and aspiring filmmakers, actors, and others interested in a career in the film business, the opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals in an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and mentoring.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to have a festival in 2020. But we expect to be back this year. The 2021 festival will be held in the fall as either a live event, a virtual event or a combination of the two.
